Animal welfare TSV Woerrstadt
This report concerning the animal welfare organisation Wörrstadt, www.tierschutz-woerrstadt.de, is a positive report of a German society for the prevention of cruelty to animals which should show that also an animal home, in this case a dog home, can be nice and must not necessarily be a detain institution. Without concrete, without kennels, but with trees, bushes, meadow and toys and happy dogs.
The dog home in Wörrstadt is manged by Karin Schramm and Christian Gansloweit and is located on the area of the former signalman's house in which the both also live. 4000 square metres of country were leased, so that the dog home disposes of 8000 square metres of surface.
Approx. 50 dogs live at the animal home which are not just locked up individually in kennels, but put carefully together in prides, the whole day in generous corrals, with any time accessible (heated and really comfortably furnished) dog houses, where they can romp around. Additionally, the corrals are equipped with very popular climbing and playing utensils.
At their area, Karin and Christian accommodate an international dog team, from Spain, Corfu, France, Germany and many countries more. Many of these dogs came from killing stations, were ill-treated and tormented and were almost starved and came in catastrophic condition to Wörrstadt.
With every of these dogs has been worked very intensively there that they loose their fears and become normal dogs. Of course they are supplied medically and are cockered if it is necessary. There are no opening times in Wörrstadt, because Karin and Christian take a lot of time to find the right dog for the right people.
From my own experience I can say that the appointments with prospective clients are taken very seriously by Karin and Christian and they take place with a lot of specialist knowledge and even more time. You don't even go home with the dog you wanted first, because both know their dogs very well and know exactly which pot fits to which lid.
You do actually not go home with a dog at all, because Christian brings the dogs to their future homes and remains there until he can be sure that everything is okay. And if you have any problems oder question, the two will have time for you, because Karin and Christian love their dogs and don’t forget them, because they are rehomed.
The dog home in Wörrstadt is really an oasis for the dogs and for every dog which can be there it is a big luck, because here is concerned with body and soul for the dogs and is done for every dog what is individually necessary for him, so that the dogs again can live a nice and normal dog life, without fears and torment.
It would be very nice if the exemplary work of the animal welfare Wörrstadt was also taken up by other associations to give the best chances of a nice and protected life to the dogs.
