a street dog gets ahead
This is the unbelievable story of Dukkha, a turkish street dog. Dukkha had been one of the thousands of dogs, which had been exposed there. He had to live a life full of permanent destitution and haunting.
The lifes of these Turkish stray dogs are usually very short. Most of them die because of starvation, mistreatment, poisoning or via accidents. Only few people appreciate their life. Most people see them as harassers or danger of infection. They often were mercilessly hunted.
She had been found by an associate of our partner organization in Turkey, Care – 4 – Life e. V.. He was in a terrible condition and had been recovered with the help of the associates.
Silvia Greene, chairwoman of Care – 4 – Life e. V., had a brilliant idea. She proposed to train this rescued dog as drug tracking dog in Germany. She wanted the officers of Turkey to see, what a “mangy street mutt” could actually be. And she had success.
And Dukkha proved to be highly skilled. She passed her final examination on the airport in Frankfurt on the Main with distinction.
Her full story was now published in the magazine “Ein Herz für Tiere”. You can also read it here. From 7th of November 2009, the transmission “Hundkatzemaus” starts the documentation of Dukkhas life. The documentation has eight parts. The transmission will be broadcasted every Saturday at 6pm and very Sunday at 7am on VOX.
