Important conviction from Spain!
March 2011, Castilla-La-Mancha:
The mid-season had been declared as illegal by court decision. In 2007, Ecologistas en Acción started to hand in administration complaints against the authorization of several hunting manners in the area Castilla-La-Mancha.
Amongst these complaints was the dismissal of the illegality of the so called “mid-season”, which takes place every year from 15th August until 15th September. The “mid-season” allowed the shoot pigeons, turtledoves and quails, when they are in the last phase of their breeding season and where the population there is not of large number as a sustainable chase should be allowed.
The mid-season is the time of the year, when more prey animal is shot and when more poaching of protected races is done in this area.
In this context, the court declared this manner as illegal and also nullified the correction of this prohibition.
