A tangible chance for the European animal welfare?
Dear animal friends,
tonight we got up to date news, this time not from Romania but directly from the European Parliament.
A written declaration concerning the management of the population of dogs within the European Community was presented by four European deputies at 06.06.2011.
This declaration can be used as a basis for a European animal welfare law, which is demanded by many animal welfare organizations for years!!
A similar declaration was presented in 2009 by the three European politicians, Hammerstein, Hutchinson and Parish, who presented the written declaration No. 12 to the European Parliament, which had the aim to create a binding pan-european animal welfare law. At that time 99 signatures were missing and nothing happened.
Now we are writing the year 2011 and there is another real chance to counter the suffering of the street animals in whole Europe in a political way, too.
You will find a summary in English here and a german version of the declaration here .
We really hope, that this time there will be enough signatures, instead of 99 signatures missing and we hope for the animals in Romania and many other European countries, that there will be a progress on the political level, to improve the conditions for the street and domestic animals in a long term!
Yours Pfotenhilfe Europa
