Petition Apulia
Dog hell Apulia
As we reported several times, the dogs, accommodated in Italian animal shelters, don’t have a lucky life.
This is because these shelters are not run by the municipalities itself. But they are run by private persons or entrepreneurs, who aren’t interested in the welfare of the animals. They are only interested in the money, which they can earn with running a shelter.
Every animal shelter receives between €2.00 and €7.00 per dog per day from the municipality. The municipality pays for the accommodation of the dogs.
To raise the profit, the entrepreneurs skimp on: feed, fresh water, care of health, medical care by veterinarians. There are no adoptions possible. The access to the shelter is barely possible for the public, because every adopted dog would mean less money.
So shelters, which accommodate more than 1000 dogs, are quite common.
Please just calculate the profit: A shelter, which accommodates 1000 dogs and receives €3.00 per dog per day. The costs for the municipality amount to €3,000.00 per day, €90,000.00 per month and more than 1 million Euro per year…
The worst region according to this is (besides Latium, Campania and Calabria) Apulia.
In the following move you can see recorded scenes of Stefan Weber. He is volunteer of „Tierärzten im Einsatz“ (veterinary in action) and campaigns both active and prophylactical for Apulias dogs in need:
