Tuzla is situated in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
A country destroyed by the civil war which fights for reconstruction.
A country which would like to become an EU member.
A country in which the people try to return to normality.
A country in which animals are worthless!
In any case, government behaves that way.
A country in which once a year street dogs are released to shooting. And it can also happen that dogs, which have a loving home are also shot to death, just because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time...
But also in this country there are people who care about the street animals.
Approx. 10 years ago an animal home was founded in the city of Tuzla under the management of an committed woman. Since that, Nevenka Sabic tries her best.
This was established with the intention to take away the street dogs from the streets and also to protect them against the mass killings.
The reality looks like this:
The only asylum in Tuzla is situated upon a hill.
Far away from any places of residence.
Employees could not reach the animal home anymore because of the weather conditions.
The street was not often passable because of the complete glaciation.
Both men, who work there voluntarily and the manager could not reach the animal home.
The animal welfare activist, who asked us for help, calls this street:
"Road to hell".
At the moment it thaws.
Not only the street to the animal home is a catastrophe.
Private donators would bear the costs for the mending of the street.
This is prohibited by Mr. Jasmin Imamovic, mayor of Tuzla.
It also thaws in the animal shelter.
The dogs stand deeply in the mud and excrements.
There is no water or electricity on this hill.
Just as little as visitors.
The animals are forgotten.
The honorary employees are at the end of their forces, completely put off and want to stop their help.
This would be an appreciated occasion for the mayor to arrange the killing of 350-400 dogs.
Or to release them and then kill them.
The main thing is, that the dogs are gone.
There are citizens in Tuzla, who donate feed.
Leftovers from restaurants, bakers, butcher shops.
No species-appropriate food, but the animals don’t have to starve.
However, nobody looks after the medical care.
Injuries either heal or they don't.
Castrations do not take place.
There is a donation account for the animal home, but hardly no cent gets there for the care of the animals. Every now and then 4-5 castrations are paid, but that's it.
Supposedly, there are 2 administrative assistants in Tuzla, who are responsible for the animal home.

All attempts to change something on the part of the animal welfare activists, are repulsed by the mayor.
The animals of Tuzla urgently need help and the people who work there need support. Both men work for 10 years at the animal home as volunteers!!!
Now in Tuzla, itself animal welfare activists try to found an association which has the aim to support the animal shelter.
This is how different things would be guaranteed, e.g., donated money covers veterinarian's cost.
Until then they try to supply medical care to at least to some animals.
Urgent rebuilding and renewal of fences is also necessary.
Some people from Tuzla have announced that they would make a donation, but not to the official account. That's what they say to the animal welfarist, who point to this situation.
